Week 14: Making the design "Fine"

Updated: May 14, 2021

This week we focused on UX and UI on the design side, and the on sources on the developing side.

We wanted to create a "fine" home page for the app that will be relevant for the MVP, before moving forward to specific features.

To do so, we build an updated draft for the app's main feed, according to the users' comments from last week and according to some design inspirations which we found on the web. Then, we had a successful meeting with Hezi, the product designer who guides us during the process.

Hezi gave us some feedback on what we've created so far and given us some practical bits of advice and ideas for the UX and UI.

We've gathered the notes he provided us into 36 points of things we need to change or think about. Part of the points are dealing with colors, size of the icons, their locations and configuration, fonts, borders, the menu bar, and its options, "saved items" option, and settings for the user.

Also, we discussed the KPI of our product and, which is that the user will read as many articles as possible on the same topic and from different topics. Then, we're thinking of how to make a design that will express it in the best way.

We've made changes in the design according to these points.

On the developing side, we tried to think of a solution on how we could compare the RSS files we get from the various sites, and how we could find a title that would describe the common theme of a group of articles. We tried using the IBM API and tested the effectiveness of using gpt3 to find a topic for articles.
